Your law school's law library might be a place where you might have spent numerous hours studying for a class, but did you realize that it can help you save thousands of dollars even after you graduate? Here are some very nice reasons to get familiar with your law library during law school in preparation to your many visits following graduation.


You have simply no idea what you are doing


As a new attorney, you are more unlikely to understand the inner workings of practicing in a law firm, creating a law firm of your own, or the section of law you wish to practice. Instead of going online and buying how-to books or spending money on expensive CLEs to learn the basics, just go in your law library and read those books free of charge. Chances are good that your law library has some of the most common books published by the ABA and bought by attorneys and law students alike.


Online research will be expensive


If you are hired with a large law organization, you will likely gain access to Westlaw or LexisNexis but even then it is expensive. Do you actually want to be the a single called into you managing partner's office to explain why your searching for a simple case cost what the law states firm thousands of dollars? What if this particular economy continues and you decide to create your own lawyer? Does your budget permit expensive online lawful research plans? I didn't believe so. You might want to work out how to do book research now when you have the chance- it is free and easier than you may think.


Dazzle them during your interview


If you landed an interview with a law firm you might have to answer some questions regarding your knowledge of certain aspects of law. Do your research beforehand. Go to what the law states library and perform some research regarding those aspects of law which the firm practices. The law library will probably have numerous fundamental books on those aspects of law. One such example could be the Barry University College of Law library- it has books published by the Florida Bar because CLEs. These books tend to be called Fastrain for a reason- they offer step-by-step primers in different aspects of law and what you should know to competently practice.


Remember: Your law library was there during the stress of tests, it will be there during the stress of training too.
